Project 1: Contextual Fit

The Smith House, designed by Richard Meier in 1965 is owned by a client that wants to add an extension to the current residence. The extension needs to adapt to Meier's patterns and be expanded upon, rather than altered or destroyed. A different designers architectural values needs to contain the original designs systems and patterns. The existing building must be dissected and have the patterns and systems valued, not distorted.

Narrative

A stay at home mom loves to be with her family and she enjoys planting. Her time is mostly spent doing her passion. When she isn't planting she enjoys presenting the flowers to her family/guests from the dining room. As a family, they love to dine together and create a nice area to get along with family, friends and guests. She would prefer a spacious and bright while valuing minimalist values. After she socializes with friends and family, she loves to unwind by planting in her greenhouse or relax in her private master bedroom.
